In an age where VR and AR technologies are becoming more and more mainstream, we haven’t heard much from one of the world’s fastest developing countries – India. Technology has certainly penetrated the Indian market, and the skyrocketing electronic and IoT sales are a testament to that very fact.

But the tides are changing and it is changing for the best! The Hyderabad based video production company Raasta Studios has launched an AR and VR video production house called the Virtual Raasta. There aren’t many VR/AR startups in India, and Virtual Raasta is bringing about a welcoming change.

Raasta Studios was founded by two friends, Prem Kumar and Sai Kumar in the year 2012. The team branded themselves as content creators who provided clients with ad videos, explanatory video, etc. The joint venture between the two friends in 2012 now stands a prime video production house having 52 member team.

“It was in 2016 that many had begun asking us to come up with more interactive content in the lines of VR/AR. We’re a 52-member team now comprising writers, filmmakers, cinematographers, animators, software engineers. There are a lot of companies that do games/software, but we generate unique VR content; this helps many reach out to us.” Added the team at Raasta Productions.

With Virtual Raasta, the team aims to expand their capabilities by providing immersive videos. However, their focus is on educational and demonstration videos. Since the candidates will have the opportunity to interact with things first handedly, the teaching process will be simplified significantly.

“Till now there used to be a lot of data presented in form of reports. Now they can present it in an interesting way and make it more interactive. One doesn’t have to go through 400-odd pages to understand a report,” Prem says.

Another ambitious project by team Raasta is to cover divisional occasions. It is definitely a challenge for the team because India is a place where technology and religion don’t too well. However, Virtual Raasta is determined to provide India a truly mesmerizing experience.

“We are adapting to those situations. It was a good journey this year for us, cracking new projects and spaces. VR has existed since eight years, but as a storytelling tool, the grammar is new enough. For 2D films, people are more or less acclimatized with its jargon and methods.”

We wish all the very best for Indian startup and are waiting early to see their creations take flight!
