Google Pixel users are now in for a treat as Google has launched an update 6.2 of the Google Camera app. This new version of the app gets to a whole new level and adds a lot of interesting features and nuances to its already sleek design. For starters, you can access the “dark mode” feature in the “Settings” of the app to give your Google Camera experience an added boost. In addition to that, there seems to be a massive addition in the form of “Measure” which is a new camera mode offered by the app.
This new advancement has left the users wondering if Google soon plans to integrate “Measure,” its AR measuring app with Google Camera to add substantial layers to its already much-sought-after app. And if the hints dropped by this multinational technology company are to be believed, it certainly seems to be the case!
Google’s Measure app promises “Quick Everyday Measurements,” and it certainly lives up to its claims. It allows users to move their phones around any space and search for flat surfaces. Then, it is simply a matter of capturing the object with the camera in your phone and copy the measurement to the clipboard. And voila! You have the measurement of the object with you.
Integrating this app with the Google Camera can be regarded as a genius move on the part of Google as it will give Google Pixel users a two-for-one benefit. In addition to that, since the “Measure” mode on the app will be based on augmented reality, it is expected to enhance the user experience manifold. For now, we are still waiting to see the launch of this new and improved app and hope it works as well as the individual apps do.
Google Camera is only supported by Pixel smartphones as of now, and we do not see these apps becoming available on any other device anytime soon. So, if you wish to make use of the AR-integrated Google Camera app in the near future, your best bet is to get yourself a shiny new Pixel soon!
