Google gearing up for VR with Chrome update

We haven’t heard a lot on Google’s VR platform, The Daydream while the competition has been churning out new updates and content fairly quickly and consistently. However, Google has not forgotten about its VR product line and has come up with a new update that might elevate its popularity significantly.

The plan is to bring the web to Daydream, more specifically, Chrome. With this move, Google can enable users to consume content on the web using the VR headset. The upside to this move is that people use the web on a daily basis and coupling VR with the web will enable users to have access to websites within their headset.

You might how different it would be to use the web through a VR headset compared to watching it on your phone or PC. Both will have the same 2D appearance, and nothing really changes right? NO, Google is bringing optimization to web-based VR using WebVR. So more developers will have more tools at their hands to create VR experiences on the web.

The new chrome version is available on Lenovo’s Mirage Solo and Google’s Daydream headsets upon the latest update of Android.
