Facebook has now launched interactive AR ads using which you can try on makeup in a wholly interactive manner. Its News Feed now features a section of augmented reality adverts that not just allow you to see and experience how certain makeup products look and feel on your skin but also lets you play a multitude of games while you are at it.

The social media giant has announced the launch of three all-new ad units this fall, beginning with playable ads and polls in its mobile News Feed. This will be followed by AR ads that allow you to test makeup products on your skin.

As shared by Facebook in a blog post, “People want to be included in your next big idea and are using new innovative ways to do it. In turn, brands and people are becoming more intertwined, and it’s changing digital advertising from a one-way push communication to an ongoing dialogue powered by creativity. To help brands further embrace this trend, today, we are announcing new ad solutions that encourage a playful experience between people and businesses and deliver results.”

Facebook believed that polls are a hot trend and that they help in enhancing brand awareness significantly. In the same vein, playable ads go a long way to boosting user engagement. With both these tools, brands are expected to get significantly more leads, thanks to the introduction of these ad units.

In the same vein, the “try on” feature introduced by Facebook is quite similar to the one that was introduced by YouTube in June this year. As a result of this feature, users will be able to sample their favorite makeup and skincare products in an immersive way before actually making a purchase. This not just makes for intelligent shopping but also increases brand engagement considerably.

From the looks of it, Facebook is leaving no stone unturned to create a mutually beneficial platform for both international brands and consumers. It is no secret that the company earns substantial revenue from its ads. The effects of this new development are left to be seen.
