The tech giant’s much-awaited augmented reality headset has been in news for quite a long time. The wireless headset codenamed T288 is believed to be built with virtual reality capabilities. Set to be launched in 2020, the headset is designed to be run on both Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) Technologies.

According to CNET report, Apple is currently working on a headset that runs on both AR and VR technology. This wireless headset will have an 8K display for each eye, which means it will offer much higher resolution than what most of the best TVs are providing these days. “The project is still in its initial stage” also added the report.

This clearly depicts that Apple is all set to take its engineering capabilities to whole new heights.  Apple has been working to incorporate augmented reality in its iPads and iPhone, and its intense focus is now on this wireless headset that would straddle both AR and VR.

These bulky goggles will transport users into a completely new digitally created world by using virtual reality technology. The eyes are now set on the Apple’s wireless headset, which also depicts company’s interest in the world of Virtual Reality. In November last year, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook also stated AR (Augmented Reality) as a technology that will change the way you work, play, learn and connect.

According to a person who is believed to have an insight on a company’s plan, revealed to CNET that the headset would be connected to a dedicated box (Apple Chipset) with the help of high speed and short-range wireless technology.  This dedicated box powered by Apple’s processor will work as a brain for this AR/VR headset.

He also revealed that unlike other devices, users wouldn’t have to install any specific base stations in their living space to detect a location.  In this headset, everything would be assembled into Apple’s headset as well as dedicated box, which will make it stand out amongst devices like HTC Vive and many others.

Apple says Goodbye to Wires with its coming wireless headset

The complexity of setting up the systems is one of the major concerns related to VR systems. Most of the powerful gears by Sony, Oculus, HTC, and others required to be connected with high-end game consoles and PC to access, but Apple is working to set up a trademark with its first cordless VR and AR headsets. The complete device would operate on wireless technology also known as 60 GHz WiGig.

As per the reports, the work on this cordless T288 project is in its initial stage right now but is scheduled to be released in 2020. Apple still could change its plan and has declined to comment on the news.
