We all know that VR games are all about adding layers of immersion to your gaming experience. Now Disney and Audi want to take it a step further, by putting you in the backseat of an Audi car while being connected to your VR headset! Confused on how this all works? We will explain!

Disney and Audi have joined hands for a VR project called the Holoride. A VR experience for the users who will be seated in the passenger seat of a car. As the car moves and turns, the VR experience will be changed accordingly.

According to Audi themselves, “If the car turns a tight corner, the player curves around an opposing spaceship in virtual reality. If the Audi E-Tron accelerates, the ship in the experience does the same.”

For example, if you are playing a game and if the car brakes and take a sharp turn, your VR surroundings will change with respect to it. If you are looking more immersion when using VR, then this is it! The VR experience is tailored to change and adapt based on the route you take. Hence, the processor will already know how to tailor the majority of the visual extravaganza.

Elastic Content: Real-Time Content Generation

The variables that come in between like sudden stops and diversions will be automatically compensated by the use of a method called “Elastic Content”. Holoride uses “Elastic Content” to procedurally create immersive experiences that are in line with the content.

Holoride aims to the change the way passenger rides are enjoyed. Most often, passenger rides are boring or feel like wasted time, however, with Holoride, you will have something fun to do, and it will keep you engaged throughout the ride.

When watching visual on the backseat of a car is discussed, the topic that always comes to mind is motion sickness. Audi was aware of this and tested a 30-minute ride with Holoride with people who are easily affected with motion sickness. The result was surprising because no one reported signs of motion sickness throughout the journey. This was because of the fact that the visuals change with the motion of the car, causing no disparity in between.

They also have planned many game titles for release, especially from the Avenger franchise.
