Google on 27th September 2018, released the freshly updated stable version of ARCore with the new Application Program Interfaces or APIs that will boost the development of Augmented reality applications on Android. Google in its recently launched version has adjoined enhancements in algorithms that will minimize the consumption of memory and CPU when utilized for longer periods. The brand new update also allows you to be more flexible over the management of the content.

The Big Question: What Actually Is ARCore?

It is basically a Software Development Kit (SDK) which supplies native APIs for essentials AR features. ARCore originated from project Tango -Google´s first attempt to bring AR to phones, that unfortunately didn’t take off. The major elements of the ARCore are Motion Tracking, Environmental Understanding, and Light estimation.

  • The first advancement in the ARCore 1.5 is a fresh Sceneform SDK library incorporated with an API that enables applications to load gITF models in runtime, without the hassle of converting it into SFB model before using. This will incredibly benefit the shopping apps that have a large number of gITF models. In order to use this new feature, one needs to use RenderableSource while building a model.
  • Another big improvement in the updated ARCore is the Sceneform UX library source code that gives you the power to save your previously created items and customize them according to the app needs.
  • The third integration in ARCore 1.5 is the addition of new point cloud IDs to ARCore. The elements in the new point IDs includes a unique ID for everything and the points that go out of prospect are lost forever.
  • Also, the ARCore support is added for the first time to a Chrome OS device, the Acer Chromebook Tab 10.

These new specialties of ARCore is a book to every app developer as we all know that Augmented Reality is not going anywhere in the near future.
