Amalgamating storytelling and Augmented Reality (AR) in a unique platform can be considered a concept that is already known in the field of AR. However, the Wonderscope App has taken it a step further and introduced children’s stories in AR to appeal to the younger generation. The Wonderscope App can easily be downloaded from the App Store for free, and if you want to buy additional content, you can even go for the in-app purchases.

This one-of-a-kind iPhone app works by changing bedrooms into storytelling stages for children. It uses ARKit, which is the biggest AR platform globally, to place the content of stories that users can use and interact with using the camera view of the app. There are several experiences that the users can choose from including different fairy tales and popular children’s stories such as the Little Red Riding Hood.

The CEO of the app developer at WITHIN, Chris Milk shared his enthusiasm about the Wonderscope app saying, “Millions of kids use screens as much or more than adults, and they often do it alone. With AR, we see an opportunity to change that dynamic. Rather than disappearing into our devices and shutting out the world, Wonderscope promotes a new kind of screen-positive experience, one that opens you up to everything and everyone around you.”

These childhood stories can be considered as modern versions of the age-old stories. Taking the example of the Little Red Riding Hood, this story is retold uniquely with plenty of AR magic. This helps kids in building their own contractions in order to impede the schemes of the Big Bad Wolf.

The different content and stories add a layer of mystery to the entire app. Parents, for one, are really excited at the launch of this AR wonder and share their excitement about all the possibilities that this app has to offer.

The Executive Producer at Within, Samantha Storr shared this joy and her expectations from this app. In her words, “As a parent, I’m excited to release an app that builds confidence through reading. We’re utilizing augmented reality to let kids interact with aspirational characters, while actively playing and talking. Our stories tap into children’s natural inclination to learn by doing, and they get the added joy of helping characters along unique journeys.”

With the introduction of this app, it can be said that AR is definitely touching new heights and is expected to do even more with the passage of time.
