Virtual reality has been the talk of the town in the past few years, but the lack of support from software developers and content creators have not taken technology to its real potential. However, developments are indeed happening and VR recently got really good news.

Amazon is bringing their Prime Video service to Oculus Go, Quest and Samsung Gear VR headsets through their Prime VR app.

Having another video streaming service is a great boost for VR, especially since it is created primarily for content consumption.

Prime VR is now restricted to just US and UK customers. However, we can expect the service to get a broader approach in the future. The best thing about VR is that you can have the theater viewing experience right from your couch. And the Prime VR app is designed in such a way that it recreates a virtual theater experience.

The Amazon Prime VR app also adds in support for voice search, making the experience that much easier. With the new VR content comes 360-degree films like Greenland Melting and Invasion. There are a total of ten 360 degree videos to choose from at launch, but we can expect more in the near future.

More users mean a win-win for all!

There are many used for VR and the area that got maximum press was gaming. With titles as immersive as Beat Saber, many use VR solely for gaming. However, video consumption is an area where VR can provide amazing experiences, but as we discussed before, video streaming sites must provide support for VR. And this requires them to create a VR app.

With more active VR users, developers and creators will be more interested in creating VR content.

Amazon supporting VR headset for Prime Video is certainly a step in the right direction. The oculus video streaming sites support has seen a novel growth in recent years and amazon prime will be joining the other famous VR video streaming service like YouTube VR, Facebook Watch, and Netflix. We can hope to see more to follow in their path in the future.
