If you are someone who admires the works of the legendary English artist and musician David Bowie, then we have got some thrilling news for you.

According to the recent reports, an official mobile application titled “David Bowie Is…”  based on the popular touring exhibition of the rock star David Bowie and is all set to be launched in the coming year as a New Year’s present in January 2019. The official release of the application is on 8th January 2019 to commemorate the great artist on his 72nd birthday.

The touring exhibition of David Bowie traversed  “the broad range of the late artist’s collaborations with artists and designers in the fields of fashion, sound, graphics, theatre, art, and film”. This exhibition was permanently closed in July, exactly after five years of its debut at the V&A in London. The touring show of David Bowie became one if the most visited exhibit at the V&A, London. The whole show was curated by Victoria Broackes and Geoffrey Marsh and it grossed over 2 million spectators from around twelve cities.

The mobile application will be available for both Android and iOS users and it will allow the fans to enjoy the tour’s costumes, videos, handwritten lyrics and much more just with a single swipe of your finger.  The new AR application will also allow fans to access items that were not showcased during the original tour of David Bowie that will incorporate some of the brand new and exclusive items that were never showed earlier.

The Augmented Reality application transpired from the fresh association between the Archives of David Bowie and Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc., who also happens to be the host of the touring exhibition in Tokyo last year. Planeta, the New York-based studio is developing the AR/VR formats of the exact museum experience at the V&A London. It is expected that the VR version of the mobile app will be launched at a later date.
