Tesla Patents Google Glass Like AR System to Assist Factory Workers

The AR glasses will help workers and bring more productivity in manufacturing.

Tesla is a company known for its innovations and driverless cars. When it comes to Elon Musk and his company Tesla, people expect something absolutely new and miraculous. Therefore, the latest patent from Tesla of the AR Google glass-like system has filled people with excitement. Tesla obviously wants to make use of Augmented Reality to build robots and cars in order to help workers speed up the entire process of their creation.

The patent for this AR application is expected to increase the productivity in its Fremont factories because of its revolutionary features. According to the patent, the app is called the ‘Augmented Reality Application for Manufacturing,’ and it can analyze the fitness of materials. AR glasses are interesting for factory workers because they can work as safety glasses as well as provide information.

The patent describes how it would work in a factory in words, “An augmented reality (AR) application for manufacturing is disclosed. In some embodiments, computer vision and augmented reality techniques are utilized to identify an object of interest and the relationship between a user and the object. For example, a user has an AR device such as a smartphone that includes a camera and sensors or a pair of AR smart glasses. In some embodiments, the AR glasses may be in the form of safety glasses. The AR device captures a live view of an object of interest, for example, a view of one or more automotive parts.” These AR glasses would definitely offer an added advantage to workers and help increase their productivity.
